ANGKOR TEMPLES TOUR GUIDE

Born in a country with great historical significance like Egypt, i never thought visiting other temples would be as inspiring. Yet, the talk about Angkor temples never stopped from the time i landed in Siem Reap. I saw locals sharing pamphlets for tour guides to the temples, everywhere around the city. Seeing foreigners rushing to sign up for these tours really peaked my interest. I had no intention of doing early morning tours that will take up the entire day, as i was on a very short holiday and i wanted to enjoy simple activities in the city. However, i found myself booking my tour to Angkor Temples for the very next day. I struggled to wake up at 7:30 am for the hotel pick up but it was definitely worth it.

Full-day Angkor Wat Tour from Siem Reap

There were too many tour packages such as; one day, three days and a full week pass to the temples, with different transport and guide options. You don't need to worry about the hassle of booking as every accommodation in Siem Reap has an office either inside or across the road from the hotel to help you book your tour. So just ask your hotel help desk and they will facilitate the entire process for you. The tour guide cost me $18, which included:

1. A round trip hotel transportation: An air conditioned minivan was ready for pick up right in front of my hotel at 7:30 sharp, made very few stops at nearby hotels to pick up the rest of the group. There was a friendly English-speaking tour guide and plenty of water bottles being passed around in the minivan, which was very much needed during the hot temple visits. 2. A small group of 15 people: Less people meant we got more attention from our tour guide, ensuring our safety and return to said meet-up checkpoints at each temple. This reduced time spent on waiting for people to return from wandering around and made the trip easily organized. 3. Drop off at the location to buy the temple pass tickets: One day entrance ticket to Angkor National Park was $37 per person (required) and the bus waited for us to purchase our tickets at the booth on the way to the park. Hence, the early pick up at 7:30 am.

This tour package included visits to 5 temples, lunch break (own expense), watching the sunset at Phnom Bakheng , then a drop off back to the hotel by 7:30 - 8:00 pm. Lunch was held at this local restaurant with a variety of Cambodian dishes to satisfy everyone's palate. The price ranged from $6 to $15 per dish, served in big portions. There are a few spots to watch the sunset at Angkor, depending on the tour guide. Ours was at Phnom Bakheng, and it was beautiful.
